The short answer
- Mutal Unnie explains Korean saju in 11 languages. An AI "unnie," a caring Korean older sister, walks you through the patterns in your birth chart and suggests one small thing you can do today.
- Free: the daily rhythm card, events and countdowns, the mood log and the weekly summary. Unlocked with Bok (福): questions to Unnie, Full Care for events, in-depth and compatibility readings.
- Download it from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Before installing, you can try the free manseryeok on the website.
Part 1 showed how Koreans use saju, and part 2 how to read the eight characters. Visiting a saju cafe on your trip is fun, but most readings in Korea happen only in Korean. This part introduces an app for people who would rather explore Korean saju in their own language, a little every day.
What is Mutal Unnie?
Mutal Unnie is an app built on Korean saju that helps you prepare for important days, log your mood and look back on your days. Rather than a one-off fortune you read and forget, it brings your daily rhythm, your events and your mood records into one place.
The name combines two Korean words.
According to its store listing, a dedicated engine calculates the birth chart, and the AI only interprets the results it is given. In other words, the same birth date and time always produce the same eight characters.
How much of Mutal Unnie is free?
The everyday features are free; deeper questions and longer readings are unlocked with the app’s points, called Bok (福), the Korean word for good fortune.
📱 Free features vs. Bok features (October 2026, per the store listings and official website)
| Type | Feature | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Daily rhythm card | Today’s fortune, something to try, a lucky color and number |
| Free | Events and countdowns | Add interviews, dates, exams and more, with no limit on how many |
| Free | Mood log | Record your day with a single emoji |
| Free | Weekly summary | Look back on your week’s moods and rhythm in numbers |
| Bok | Ask Unnie | Ask about what’s on your mind |
| Bok | Full Care | An evening-before briefing and a day-of guide for an important event |
| Bok | In-depth and relationship readings | Your full chart, compatibility (partners, family, coworkers), this year’s and next year’s reports |
How to get Bok
- Top up with an in-app purchase (prices vary by country and are shown in each store).
- Collect it bit by bit through friend invitations, coupons and short rewarded ads.
- The app shows how much Bok a feature costs before you spend it, and according to the official FAQ, Bok you receive never expires.
How is it different from a one-off fortune?
The big difference is events and records. Add a nerve-racking day such as a job interview or a contract signing, and the app shows the countdown along with a one-line note on that day’s rhythm; open Full Care and it tells you what to prepare the evening before and the morning of. At the end of each day you log your mood with an emoji, and as the records build up you can review your week in numbers.
Add family, a partner or friends to “My People” and you can see their charts and how your rhythms relate. Compatibility readings cover not only couples but parents and coworkers too.
What if you were born outside Korea, or you're traveling?
Choose your birth city and enter the local time recorded there. There is no need to convert it to Korea time.
- Solar-term boundaries: calculated using that place's time-zone rules on your birth date, daylight saving included.
- Day and hour pillars: use the local clock time on record. True solar time is not applied (see part 2 for how schools differ).
- Daily fortune and mood log: use your phone's local date and time zone, so the date can shift when you cross time zones.
- Notifications: send times and the weekday of weekly notifications run on Korea Standard Time (KST, UTC+9).

Are there free tools to try before installing?
Yes. The tools on mutalunnie.com work without sign-up, and each language has its own version.
There are also tools for Korean age, your lunar birthday’s Gregorian date in coming years, daeun cycles and samjae years.
Is it accurate? Should you make decisions with it?
Saju is a cultural interpretation, not a forecast that guarantees the future. The app says as much in its store listing: readings are cultural interpretations for reflection and are not medical, legal or investment advice. That is close to how most Koreans treat saju, too: less something to believe than something to consult, a way to sort your thoughts when you feel uneasy.
The accuracy of the calculation itself depends on what you enter. If your birth time sits near a two-hour boundary, try both possibilities, and if apps disagree, use the checklist in part 2.
Getting started
- 1. Install: App Store for iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later) or Google Play for Android. Free, with ads and in-app purchases.
- 2. Enter your birth date: no sign-up needed to start. If you don't know your birth time, leave it blank.
- 3. Add an important day: your next interview, exam or departure date, and you will see its countdown alongside the day's rhythm.
