Two ways to read this. First, the free-shipping threshold is based on the merchandise total, before tax and duty. If tax pushes your cart past US$200, it still doesn’t count. Second, those times are business days — weekends and Korean public holidays are excluded, so on a calendar it takes longer, especially around Chuseok or Lunar New Year.
The easiest way to make shipping disappear
Shipping is charged per order, so two separate purchases mean paying it twice. To the US, two US$100 orders cost US$40 in shipping; one US$200 order costs zero — a US$40 swing on the same money. If you're buying anything, pile it into the cart and check out once, above the threshold.
Will I have to pay duty separately later?
Straight answer: no. Musinsa Global ships everything DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), so VAT and customs duty are already included in what you pay at checkout. There’s nothing extra to hand the courier when the box arrives.
You can see it right in the cart. If your total (minus shipping) is under that country’s duty-free limit, the tax line shows FREE; if it’s over, the amount that will be charged appears right there as a number. You know the full total before you click pay.
One quirk for orders to Japan
If a Japan-bound order contains even one item that isn't duty-free eligible, VAT and duty can be applied to the entire order — even if the rest falls under the exemption. The limits are set by each country's customs authority, not something Musinsa can change.
Why are US orders different?
On August 27, 2025, the US ended its US$800 de minimis exemption. Before that, orders under US$800 came through untaxed; now every overseas order attracts tax and duty regardless of amount. A single US$20 T-shirt is no exception.
In practice, here’s what US buyers should take away.
- The amount shown at checkout is the final amount — it's DDP, so no second bill shows up later.
- But your total is higher than it used to be. Budget off the product price alone and you'll come up short.
- US customs clearance runs through California, so the East Coast takes longer than average.
- If Chinese-made products are mixed in, clearance gets stricter and can add a few extra days.

Three things to watch. Prepaid (gift) cards don’t work. Regular credit and debit payments come with no installment plans (the US’s Afterpay/Klarna and Japan’s GMO BNPL are separate). Why do Korean sizes run so small?
Straight answer: two things overlap — one is notation, the other is fit.
Notation — the numeric sizes on Korean menswear (90 · 95 · 100 · 105) aren’t renamed S/M/L. They’re chest circumference in centimeters. A ‘100’ means the garment is cut for someone with a 100 cm chest. If you used to wear an American M and casually grab a 95, it’s going to feel small.

Fit — the more important half. Korean brands default to slim fit. Even with the same ‘L’ on the label, the shoulders and chest come out narrower than Western brands. That’s why “size up one” is standard advice among Korean men themselves, and part of why the oversized look caught on here.
The 3-minute way to stop missing on size
Ignore the label entirely and go by actual measurements. Every Musinsa product page lists length, shoulder width, chest width, and sleeve length by size, in centimeters.
- Take the one garment whose fit you love most, lay it flat, and measure it.
- Note down three numbers: length, shoulder width, and chest width.
- On the product page's size chart, pick the row closest to those three numbers.

This method holds up even when brands change. Labels differ from brand to brand; centimeters don't.

How do I get a tax refund in the store?
Bring your passport. Musinsa’s offline stores have grown so foreign-heavy that they’ve streamlined the tax-free process, with multilingual signage and self-checkout throughout.
- Show your passport first when paying — sorting it out after checkout is a hassle.
- If your refund exceeds the immediate-refund limit, you'll get paperwork to claim it at the airport.
- If you receive refund documents, they may need airport customs confirmation before you check your bags — don't pack the items deep in your luggage.
