The Short Answer

  • The #1 bestseller is not cosmetics — it's tissue paper. Five of the top 10 are tissues of some kind: facial tissue, kitchen towels, wet wipes, toilet paper.
  • Skincare leads by count (52 items, 17.3%) but barely shows up in the upper ranks. It's not that skincare sells best — it's that Daiso carries the most variety in that category.
  • Summer owns this ranking. Of the 27 dehumidifiers and insect repellents on the list, 8 sit inside the top 50. The #4 spot? A fruit fly trap.
  • Nearly half the items cost 1,000 won or less (135 items, 45%). The median price in the top 20 is just 1,000 won.
  • For travelers, the sweet spot: 500-won sheet masks and capsule packs. Ten of the thirteen 500-won items in the ranking are skincare.

Everyone knows what Daiso sells. But what Koreans actually walk out with? Surprisingly, nobody had laid that out. So I pulled the full weekly ranking from Daisomall — all 300 positions, across every category — and classified each one by hand into 13 buckets. I tabulated prices, star ratings, and review counts along the way. Everything below is drawn from that list, captured on July 29, 2026.

The headline, in a sentence: a tourist’s Daiso basket and a local’s Daiso basket barely overlap.

What's Inside the Top 300? A Category Breakdown

52 items
Skincare — the biggest category in the top 300 (17.3%)
45%
Items priced at 1,000 won or less (135 out of 300)
5/10
Top 10 slots held by tissue / paper products
4.80
Average star rating — and why it tells you nothing

One number jumps out immediately. Skincare is the most-represented category with 52 items, but only 18 of those break into the top 100. Meanwhile, tissues and paper products account for just 22 items overall — yet 14 of them land inside the top 100. Skincare has more variety; tissues sell more units. Read the ranking by head count alone and you arrive at the exact opposite conclusion.

Why Only One Beauty Product in the Top 10?

The answer reveals itself the moment you look at the actual list. The top 10 is a world of consumables — things you use up, run out of, and buy again. For Koreans, Daiso isn’t a cosmetics store. It’s a refill station for everyday life.

Push out to the top 30 and the picture stays the same: 10 tissue products, 6 cleaning items, 5 skincare, 4 dehumidifiers, 2 insect repellents. Two-thirds of the top 30 are things that disappear as you use them.

The gap between tourists and locals: Travel content always paints Daiso as a K-beauty and character merch paradise. Yet in the actual sales ranking, cosmetics occupy exactly one of the top 10 slots, and character goods: zero. (The highest-ranking character item is #82 — Disney-branded wet wipes. Still a wipe.)

Why a Fruit Fly Trap Ranks #4 — How Summer Hijacked the List

The most telling thing about this ranking? You could guess the month even if the date were removed.

Dehumidifiers and deodorizers (19 items) plus insect repellents and traps (8 items) add up to 27 entries in the top 300 — 9% of the entire list. But the real story is where they sit: 8 of them cluster inside the top 50. Rank 4 (fruit fly trap), ranks 10, 17, 19, 23, and 31 (dehumidifiers), rank 29 (fruit fly spray), rank 50 (mosquito mat).

July in Korea means the end of jangma (the monsoon rainy season) and the beginning of pokyeom (the blistering heat wave). Humidity hovers above 80%. Fruit flies explode from kitchen food waste. Closets start smelling musty. The ranking mirrors that reality, down to the product level.

Come Back in December

If you revisit this ranking a few months from now, the dehumidifiers and fruit fly traps will have been replaced by hand warmers, humidifier filters, lip balms, and anti-static sprays. The Daiso ranking is effectively Korea's seasonal calendar for the home. The real value of this data is tracking how the same list shifts across the four seasons.

52 Skincare Items, Yet Barely Visible. Here's Why.

By sheer count, skincare dominates. But the rank positions are low. The culprit is price structure.

Daiso operates on exactly six price points: 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, and 5,000 won. And 17 out of the 34 items priced at 5,000 won — exactly half — are skincare. Creams, ampoules, serums, toners — the “real” cosmetics — all live in that top-tier price bracket.

17/34
Skincare's share of 5,000-won items — exactly half
22/52
Skincare items priced at 1,000 won or less (42%) — mostly sheet masks
21 types
Masks and packs out of the 52 skincare products

The result is polarization. On one end, full-size products at 5,000 won — retinol serums, vitamin C ampoules, moisturizing creams. On the other, single-use sheet masks at 500 to 1,000 won. Almost nothing in the middle. And it’s the cheap disposables that drive individual rankings — #5 VT sheet mask (1,000 won), #11 Egg Capsule Pack (500 won), #39 Olivefarm Aloe Mask Pack (500 won).

By brand, VT appears 9 times — the most of any K-beauty label (3 Reedle Shot varieties, 5 PDRN Radiance line products, 1 Cica). Next comes Bonsep with 6, then The Lab by Blanc Doux with 4. The brand that appears most across the entire 300 is, surprisingly enough, Momscreen with 11 products — the company behind zipper bags, sanitary bags, and disposable gloves.

How to Shop by Price Tier

  • Want to test a product? Start at 500–1,000 won with a mask pack. If it fails, you've lost the price of a coffee.
  • Full-size products only at the 5,000-won shelf. Everything below that is travel-size or single-use — and the per-use cost is often higher.
  • Multiple products from the same brand line = a hit. VT (9 items) and Bonsep (6 items) didn't land those slots by accident. Daiso is pouring inventory behind them.

A 4.8 Average Rating — and Why It Means Nothing

The average star rating across all 300 items is 4.80. And of the 299 products that show a rating, 289 (96.7%) score 4.7 or above. Exactly one item falls below 4.5 — a fruit fly sticky trap at rank 247 (4.2 stars).

In other words, ratings are useless for choosing anything. The difference between 4.8 and 4.9 is statistical noise.

What you should look at instead is review count. Daisomall caps displayed reviews at “9,999+”. Only 8 items in the entire top 300 hit that ceiling.

💬 9,999+ Reviews — The Eight True Evergreens

30Madeca21 Teca Solution Soothing Mist Toner 200 ml5,000 won★4.8
64VT Reedle Shot 100 Ampoule 2 ml × 63,000 won★4.8

Six of these eight cost 1,000 won or less, and only two are cosmetics. The item at #18 — the Gaein Jeongbo Jiugae (Personal Info Eraser) — is a distinctly Korean product: a roller tool that scrubs names, addresses, and phone numbers off parcel labels. It’s a window into Korea’s staggering parcel volume and its sensitivity around personal data. I’d argue it’s the most “Korean” item on the entire list.

Fresh In: 25 New Arrivals That Reveal Daiso's Strategy

Of the 300 items, 25 carry a “NEW” tag. These are products that rocketed onto the ranking with fewer than 100 reviews — which means they show you exactly what Daiso is pushing right now.

RankNew ArrivalPriceReviews
26Sensian Healing Therapy Cooling Patch 4 ct2,000 won189
46Slide Zipper Bags 12 ct2,000 won99

127Housidum Barrier Repair Moisture Cream 50 ml5,000 won1,434
198Fruit Market Fruit-shaped Magnet Cap Scissors 2 ct2,000 won30

Two currents run through these new arrivals. One is summer-specific — cooling patches, giant 900 ml and 650 ml tumblers, Toy Story dehumidifiers. The other is private-brand expansion — Daiso’s in-house beauty-tool brand Gloworks dropped three new puffs at once, and the stationery-and-kitchen line Fruit Market arrived with six new items in a single batch. This is a clear signal that Daiso is building out its own branded lines category by category.

So What Should a Traveler Actually Buy from This Ranking?

Let’s be honest: most of the top-ranked items are useless for travelers. There’s no good reason to stuff 280 facial tissues, a kilo of sodium percarbonate, or a 4-pack of dehumidifiers into your suitcase.

The meaningful zone for visitors is a different band: items that cost 500 to 1,000 won, weigh nothing, and lie flat. And that band is almost entirely skincare — 10 of the 13 products priced at 500 won are skincare.

Insider Tips for the Store

  • Daiso stores use color-coded price tags. With only six price points, the math is easy — count the items in your basket and multiply by roughly 2,000 won.
  • Top-ranked cosmetics sell out fast. VT and Bonsep shelves are often empty by evening. Hit a large flagship store first if those are on your list.
  • Sheet masks and capsule packs are liquids. They may trigger the 100 ml carry-on rule, so pack them in checked luggage.
  • Online (Daisomall) and in-store prices are reportedly the same, but product ranges vary significantly by store size.

How to Read This Ranking — In Three Takeaways

  1. Daiso's core is consumables. Cosmetics have the variety, but tissues, wipes, scrubbers, and detergents drive the sales.
  2. The ranking is seasonal. Eight of the top 50 in July are dehumidifiers and insect traps. This list will look completely different in three months.
  3. The traveler's zone is 500 to 1,000 won. That's where the sheet masks and capsule packs live — and they offer the best weight-to-satisfaction ratio of anything in the store.

Data & Methodology

  • Source: Daisomall (daisomall.co.kr) — all-category weekly sales ranking, positions 1 through 300. Collected July 29, 2026.
  • Fields captured: For each of the 300 items: product name, selling price, star rating, review count, and NEW badge status.
  • Processing: Manually classified into 13 categories, then computed category share, top-100 penetration, price-band distribution, and average rating via code. Every number in this article is the result of that calculation — none are estimates.
  • Note on ratings: Daisomall caps displayed reviews at "9,999+". Items above that threshold are recorded at the cap value. One product (rank 274) displays no rating or review count and was excluded from the rating average (n = 299).
  • Limitation: This ranking reflects online (Daisomall) sales only. Offline store rankings may differ, especially for bulky or urgently needed items that tend to sell more through physical locations.
