- Jeju's Saebyeol Oreum ATV runs 20–30 minutes per course, and only middle-school age and up can ride solo.
Outdoor activity prices are notoriously slippery to compare. A paragliding session advertises a 1-hour-30-minute slot, yet you’re only actually in the air for 5–10 minutes. With surfing, whether free surfing follows your 2-hour lesson or not can swing the real per-hour cost by more than double.
So instead of listing sticker prices, this guide does the math for you — dividing each price by airtime or usage time. For paragliding, that means using the per-course flight times operators publish (in minutes); for surfing and Wave Park, lesson time plus open surfing time. Where prices aren’t fixed, I’ve written out the conditions rather than guess at a number.
How much does paragliding cost per minute of airtime?

How I calculated this
Dollar prices are converted at 1 USD = ₩1,400, all checked in August 2026. Airtime figures are what each operator states in its course description — and every operator notes that weather can shift both your booking time and your actual flight time. Photo and video packages are usually a separate add-on, so they may not be included in the prices above.
This is the whole point of the article. On sticker price alone, Danyang’s normal course at ₩90,000 is ₩50,000 cheaper than Yangpyeong’s ₩140,000. But per minute of airtime, Danyang normal comes to ₩11,300–18,000 and Yangpyeong to roughly ₩14,000. The gap narrows dramatically.
In other words, "Danyang is cheaper" is a sticker-price statement. Reframe it as buying airtime and the two regions are closer than you'd think — the course you pick matters more than the location. Even within Danyang, the Cheongchun course tops out at ₩19,800/minute while the normal course bottoms out at ₩11,300 — nearly double.
Danyang’s course lineup goes by different names depending on the sales channel, but the structure is similar: standard and extreme courses are listed at 6–8 minutes, special-tier at 10–15, and top-tier courses where you try steering yourself at 20–30. When airtime doubles, the price generally more than doubles — so per-minute value does not improve as you move up the ladder.
Lock in your Danyang course and pickup terms before you go
As of August 2026, the Danyang Cafesan launch-site product listed US$85.75 (about ₩120,000) with under 3 hours total time, free cancellation and instant confirmation. If you choose your course on site, video costs are charged separately — so it's worth confirming what's included beforehand.
Booking directly with a local Danyang operator by phone can sometimes bring the normal course down into the ₩90,000 range. If you can handle a Korean-language phone call and your schedule is flexible, there's not much reason to use a booking platform. Checked August 2026.
Getting Danyang's normal course for under ₩100,000
Listed at US$69.79 (about ₩97,700) in August 2026, this lands in the ₩12,200–19,500 per-minute range from the table above. The normal course flies just 5–8 minutes, so skip this one if you want maximum airtime.
If you're planning a same-day round trip from Seoul by public transit, add in the travel time and fares to Danyang to get your true total. If minimizing transit is the priority, Yangpyeong is the better bet. Checked August 2026.
If you want something closer to Seoul, there’s also the Yangpyeong paragliding package. The listing puts the basic course at 10–15 minutes and the long course at 20–25 — figures that differ slightly from the operator’s own numbers — and popular dates do sell out, so check availability on the date-picker screen first.
How different is the hourly cost of ocean surfing vs an artificial wave?
Ocean surfing is far cheaper by the hour — because the free surfing after your lesson has no time limit.

Here’s the math. Songjeong’s ₩65,000 covers a 2-hour lesson, so lesson time alone is ₩32,500/hour. Add just two hours of free surfing and you’re at 4 hours total, dropping the rate to roughly ₩16,300/hour. The key that makes this possible: equipment use is included at no extra charge.
Siheung Wave Park’s reef free-surfing, by contrast, covers beginner and intermediate for ₩115,000 over 2 hours — ₩57,500/hour. Against Songjeong’s 4-hour scenario that’s 3.5× more; even compared to the 2-hour lesson alone, it’s 1.8×.
When Wave Park still wins
- You absolutely need to surf on a flat-swell day — an artificial wave is far less at the mercy of the weather.
- You want to get there and back from Seoul on public transit — factor in a round trip to Busan and the totals can flip.
- Someone in your group doesn't surf — you can split up with the Miocosta water-park area.
One Songjeong lesson that covers board, wetsuit and shower
The ₩65,000 beginner lesson includes board and wetsuit rental, and after the lesson you can keep using the gear for free surfing with no time limit. That's where the roughly ₩16,300/hour figure above comes from.
Songjeong has several surf shops clustered together, and outside peak season you can usually walk in the same day. If you're already in Busan and want to decide based on the weather, there's little reason to book ahead. Checked August 2026.
On the artificial-wave side, the Siheung Wave Park Miocosta pass lets you split water-park access and surfing. Just note the surf zone runs on session-based reservations, so it’s booked separately from the water-park pass.
How long do scuba, ATV and rock climbing actually take?
For these three, look at the time structure before the price — scuba especially has the biggest gap between total duration and actual time underwater.

Scuba is the activity where you spend 2 hours for 30 minutes underwater. If you’re planning more of the day, keep those 2 hours fully clear. ATV is the opposite — the course itself runs 20–30 minutes, so it’s easy to slot into a day built around visiting an oreum.
A short ATV-only run at Saebyeol Oreum
The semi course is about 20 minutes and the Saebyeol course about 30, with operations running 10:00–17:30 (17:00 in winter). Helmets and protective gear are provided on site. The listing marks advance booking as mandatory.
Kids below middle-school age can't ride alone, so skip this if you only want to put a child on one. Operations can be suspended due to bad weather or operator circumstances, and the listing recommends calling before your visit. Checked August 2026.
To get underwater, the Jeju scuba diving try-dive is the pick; to gain altitude on land, try the rock climbing tour near Seoul. Both prices change with dates and options, so I’ve avoided pinning down a number here.

Those blanks are the reality. Only paragliding publishes its weight and weather-cancellation rules with any clarity; for everything else, conditions aren’t stated consistently across product pages and operator notices. So for scuba or surfing, your safest move is to open the booking channel’s cancellation-policy screen yourself before paying.
When you can skip booking ahead
- If you can speak Korean on the phone and stay flexible — booking directly with a Danyang operator can bring the normal course down into the ₩90,000 range.
- If you're already in Busan and want to check the waves first — Songjeong's surf shops are packed together, and outside peak season walk-ins usually work.
- On a day with a definite rain forecast — paragliding can be cancelled by phone the day before or same morning, so you're better off moving it to another day from the start.
- If an artificial wave isn't the point — by hourly rate alone, Wave Park runs about 3× the cost of ocean surfing.
