Most near-Seoul day-tour products are strictly seasonal. A cherry blossom tour simply vanishes once the blossoms do, and strawberry picking loses its booking button after April. So this guide is organized by timing, not by place — a month-by-month table of what you can actually do from January through December, and roughly when to book each one.

What can you do each month, January to December?
The table below is the heart of this guide. Even within the same month, the south and central regions run on different clocks, so I’ve split entries into what’s starting and what’s peaking.

Cherry blossom season: when should you book?
Seoul’s 2026 cherry blossoms are forecast to open around April 1 and reach full bloom around April 8–10. With blooming running about five days ahead of the average date (April 8), it’s smart to keep your near-Seoul blossom route open from late March. The south blooms even earlier — the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is slated for March 27–April 5, 2026.
Right now, about the only cherry blossom product still on sale is the Suwon Hwaseong royal blossom path loop. Most of the rest wrapped up last season and reopen as bloom time approaches.

A single-day loop linking the royal blossom path and Hwaseong Fortress, run only during the week or so of bloom after peak.
The fortress itself is free and open year-round, blossoms or not. If the fortress is all you want, going on your own by subway is cheaper. Prices and availability as of August 2026; vary by date and option.

How late can you do strawberry picking?
Strawberry-picking season runs December–April. From December through February, berries ripened slowly in the cold hit their peak for both sweetness and firmness — and most people rate January the sweetest. In March–April, supply rises and prices drop, making it better value, but the sweetness dips a notch.
Winter-season products around Gapyeong and Pocheon in Gyeonggi-do tend to bundle strawberry picking with other sights, like the Pocheon Sanjeong Lake & Art Valley strawberry-picking private tour. If strawberries are your only goal, going to a nearby farm yourself costs less in both time and money.
Gapyeong Strawberry Picking + Nami Island + Ski Day Course
A December–April winter-only product bundling strawberry picking, Nami Island and a ski resort into one day. Book them separately and you'd have to sort out your own transport.
If you only want the strawberry picking, this combo is overkill. It only pays off when you plan to cover the ski resort and Nami Island all in one day. Prices and availability as of August 2026; vary by date and option.
When should you start planning a sunrise trip?
The classic New Year sunrise spots are Jeongdongjin in Gangneung, Homigot in Pohang, Seongsan Ilchulbong on Jeju, and Waemok Village in Dangjin. Jeongdongjin’s 2026 sunrise is forecast for 7:41 AM, and because the train station sits right against the sea, you can catch the sunrise the moment you step off. The Seongsan Sunrise Festival runs from December 30 to January 1.
For sunrise, the lodging sells out first
Jeongdongjin draws such a crowd on New Year's Day that safety staff are stationed there, and nearby lodging often sells out before any tour products do. This guide doesn't list a dedicated sunrise tour product, so this section is informational only.
Hydrangeas: when and where should you go?
Hydrangeas start blooming in mid-June and peak in late June. The large-scale spots are mostly in the provinces — Haenam Forest Arboretum (400+ varieties, 8,000+ plants) runs June 12–July 6, the Sinan Docho Island hydrangea festival runs June 20–29, and Hwadam Botanic Garden in Gwangju, Gyeonggi runs from mid-June to late August. From Seoul, seeing them at this scale realistically means an overnight trip rather than a day trip.
When does fall foliage peak?
Foliage starts in the north and works its way south. The Gangwon region peaks mid to late October, the Chungcheong region late October to early November, and the Gyeongsang and Jeolla regions early to mid-November. The peak window itself is short — only about two weeks after the first color — so provincial foliage spots that take time to reach need a generous schedule.
What are the alternatives when the timing doesn't fit?
If you’re hunting for a near-Seoul tour in a month that’s neither blossom nor foliage season, the fix is a product that isn’t tied to any one season. The Jeonju Hanok Village tour is one of the few that runs all four seasons — spring blossoms, summer greenery, autumn foliage, winter snow. The Jeju eastern UNESCO culture tour is just as unconstrained by season.
