The short answer
- Ski packages usually cover the lift and gear, but cold-weather clothing, goggles, and pads are often left out — know the add-ons before you go or your budget will be off.
- 2026–2027 season packages typically open for booking in October to November, two to three months before the season kicks off.
- The closest resorts to Seoul are Elysian Gangchon (about 1 hour) and Gonjiam (about 50 minutes). Resorts deeper in the Gangwon mountains run past two hours each way.
Another article already ran the numbers on individual lift tickets and rentals at Gangwon day-trip ski resorts. This one won’t repeat that math. Instead, it looks at what a package actually includes and what it quietly leaves out, and when booking opens. Even when a package name carries the words “all-inclusive,” it’s common for only half the line items to actually be covered.
How do lift, gear, clothing, lessons, and shuttle differ from package to package?
Lift tickets and gear rental are included in most packages, but clothing and lessons vary by product. KKday’s product listing for the Elysian Gangchon day-tour family states explicitly that “cold-weather clothing such as gloves, socks, and neck warmers, and safety gear such as goggles, knee pads, and hip pads are not included and can be purchased on site.”
🏆 What each ski package type includes
| Product type | Lift | Gear (ski/board + boots) | Cold-weather clothing | Lesson | Seoul round-trip shuttle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elysian Gangchon day tour (basic) | O | O | X (buy on site) | Varies by tier | O |
| Elysian Gangchon 2-night, 1-day package | O | O | Confirm | Confirm | O (accommodation incl.) |
| Vivaldi Park lift + rental + Ocean World ticket | O | O | Confirm | X | Confirm |
| Vivaldi Park season pass (standalone) | O | X | X | X | X |
| Vivaldi Park shuttle + Snowy Land + ski day tour | O (by tier) | Confirm | Confirm | X | O |
"Gear" and "clothing" are not the same thing
When a listing says "gear included," it often only means the skis or board (skis, boots, and poles for skiing, or deck and boots for snowboarding). Cold-weather outerwear, gloves, socks, and goggles are a separate line item — check the product page to see whether they're covered. Plenty of people skip this distinction, assume they'll get everything, and end up paying clothing rental fees on site.
What does a beginner actually need at minimum?
If it’s your first time on skis, five things will do: round-trip transport, a lift ticket (a short-time pass is plenty), gear rental, cold-weather clothing, and a one-hour beginner lesson.
Of those five, the one packages skip most often is ④, cold-weather clothing and safety gear. As the comparison table above shows, even the basic Elysian Gangchon day tour leaves it out. If the package you’re eyeing only covers “lift + gear,” plan to spend roughly ₩30,000–50,000 per person extra on clothing, goggles, and pads at the resort.
Lessons fill up faster than lift passes
Product listings repeatedly note that lessons often sell out early on weekends. If you need a lesson, book it before your lift pass — ideally by 5 p.m. the day before.
Elysian Gangchon round-trip shuttle day tour (tier options)
Tiers run from a budget option with just the shuttle and sightseeing lift, up to lift + gear + lesson. Cold-weather clothing, goggles, and pads are left out of nearly every tier, so bring your own or buy them on site.

Are there packages that bundle in accommodation?
Yes — but the line items vary even more from product to product than with day tours. Elysian Gangchon sells a 1-night, 2-day ski tour, and because it includes accommodation, how many hours you get on the slopes and whether meals are covered swing a lot by option.
Elysian Gangchon 1-night, 2-day ski tour (from Seoul)
More slope time than the day tour, and a higher price to match. Beginners often burn out within half a day and never use up a full lift pass, so for your first time it's smarter to test the waters with a day tour and leave the overnight version for a second visit.

On the Elysian Gangchon side, there are also combos that pair the resort with nearby spots like Nami Island or Eobi Ice Valley. The Nami Island combo tour works when someone in your group isn’t skiing, and the Eobi Ice Valley combo tour is for when you want to add a walk through a frozen valley. Over at Vivaldi Park, the lineup splits between the official partner Snow Kingdom package and a shuttle + Snowy Land day tour.
If you choose Hongcheon’s Vivaldi Park over the Chuncheon area, there’s also a combo that packs skiing and the water park (Ocean World) into one day.
Vivaldi Park lift + rental + Ocean World ticket
Bundles the lift pass and rental with entry to the indoor water park. It suits a plan where you ski in the morning and thaw out indoors in the afternoon. Whether the shuttle is included differs by option, so check the detail page before booking.

When do 2026–2027 season packages go on sale?
Usually two to three months before the season starts. Industry guidance is that ski resort season-pass and package pricing tends to be released two to three months before opening. The 2025–2026 opening dates were Yongpyong and Phoenix Pyeongchang on November 21, High1 on November 28, and Vivaldi Park on December 4 (based on past seasons).
Don't take the season label in a product name at face value
Some season-pass listings stay live with last season's label still in the name, like "25/26 season." Don't judge the season by the product title alone — always check the actual valid dates on the booking page.
Some products are currently closed for booking. These usually reopen as the season approaches, so for now just study the lineups and hold off on paying until the opening dates are announced.

How far is each resort from Seoul, and is there a shuttle?
The closest are Gonjiam (about 50 minutes) and Elysian Gangchon (about 1 hour). The deeper into the Gangwon mountains you go, the longer the trip — and the more you’ll lean on reservation-based packages out of Seoul.
