Seoul Nightlife Booking Guide: Club Entry, Pub Crawls, and Pocha Tours Compared

Plenty of articles cover Seoul nightlife, but few actually open the booking pages to check what a club entry ticket includes — or whether the venue in the listing is even still open. For this guide, we opened the Seoul nightlife listings on Klook and KKday to verify what is included, along with age and dress-code restrictions, and crunched the numbers comparing pocha tour prices against DIY bar-hopping.

The club entry listings in particular need a careful look. By 2026, Gangnam’s once-iconic Club Octagon has already closed, and many of the booking links carrying the Octagon name are either stale pages or redirect to a completely different product. That is exactly why you should not book on name recognition alone.

What’s actually included in a club entry ticket?

It depends on the venue. Big Gangnam clubs typically bundle one drink into the entry fee, while smaller Hongdae and Itaewon spots often charge entry and drinks separately. Here’s what the average entry fees look like by neighborhood.

Can you still book Club Octagon?

No. Club Octagon was once Seoul’s flagship EDM club, but it closed in March 2020, and as of August 2026 there is no official word of it reopening in the same spot. Many of the Octagon booking pages and reviews still floating around travel platforms date from before the closure.

Digging further, some booking links listed under names like “Gangnam/Hongdae club entry” do not even lead to a club product — they redirect to an unrelated Seoul night food tour, or show up as “currently unavailable.” Don’t pay based on a club name or listing title alone. Right before booking, re-check the venue name, address, and whether it is actually on sale.

Why might you be turned away at the door?

It comes down to three things: dress code, age, and ID. Many Gangnam clubs restrict casual clothing like shorts and sandals for men and expect smart casual as the baseline. Foreign visitors need an original photo ID (passport or alien registration card); IDs without a photo or photocopies are commonly rejected.

Guided pocha and pub crawl tours often set their own age limits. One pocha tour we checked, for instance, restricts participants to ages 19–50 (international age) and states that Korean passport holders cannot join. Another pub crawl notes that its first three bars have no age restriction, but the final stop — a club — is limited to ages 19–34. Backpacks, sportswear, slippers, and tank tops (for men) are also listed as reasons for refusal.

Is a pocha tour pricier than going bar-hopping yourself?

Per person, yes. The guided pocha tour we found (Midnight Pocha Crawl) runs US$93.15 per person (as of August 2026, minimum 3 people to book) and includes one regional anju and one bottle of alcohol per person, plus Korean drinking-toast culture and a photo booth experience.

By contrast, if you buy soju and basic anju yourself at a spot like the Jongno 3-ga pocha street, the cash price for soju at one pocha we checked was about KRW 2,000 a bottle. Add a shared dish like pajeon (scallion pancake) or odeng-tang (fish cake stew) for two or three people, and your per-person spend ends up being a fraction of the guided tour price.

In other words, the price gap is not about the food and drink itself. It is about barrier-free hosting, being shepherded through several venues on a pre-booked route, and getting matched into a group when you cannot meet the minimum headcount. Traveling solo and comfortable with a Korean menu? Going on your own is dramatically cheaper.

Are Seoul night views worth booking?

Naksan Park itself is a free, 24-hour public space, so there is no real entrance fee. That means a night-view tour price is not for the view itself — it is for the route planning, transportation, a course bundling Gwangjang Market and Gyeongbokgung, and the guide’s commentary.

The listing we checked (Seoul One Day City Tour & Night View Tour) starts at US$32.29, with five options ranging from the Naksan Park and Eungbongsan Palgakjeong night views to packages adding a Gwangjang Market food tour or Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon. Groups run up to 8 people, and on rainy days the Eungbongsan course is swapped for a Bugaksan Skyway drive.

Can you do saju and tarot in English?

Yes. The listing we checked (Seoul Korean Shamanism Half-Day Guided Tour) climbs Inwangsan to visit Guksadang and Seonbawi, then ends with a personal saju reading from an actual shaman, with an English-speaking guide on hand to interpret. It costs US$34.95 (as of August 2026), takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, and departs from Dongnimmun Station Exit 3-1.

There is also a no-booking route. Hongdae has plenty of tourist-friendly tarot cafes where you can walk in for a reading at around KRW 15,000–20,000, while a full saju consultation typically runs KRW 30,000–50,000. English availability varies by cafe, so check ahead. Want the immersive mountain-plus-reading experience? Book the tour. Want something short and light? A Hongdae walk-in cafe is the better fit.

When you can skip booking

If a Korean menu and card payment do not faze you, you do not really need a booked product for pochas or clubs. Clubs usually let you pay at the door, and Hongdae tarot cafes are fine as walk-ins. Booked products earn their keep for solo travelers or pairs who cannot meet the minimum headcount, for anyone who needs English interpretation, and for tight itineraries where planning a route is a hassle.
