Don’t cram heavy, bulky gear into your suitcase. Dyson hair tools, strollers and car seats, wheelchairs and rollators — the things that are a hassle to fly with, or simply won’t work here because of the voltage — are cheaper and safer to rent for a few days in Seoul. Pickup is at KPLANZ, directly connected to Hongik University Station Exit 3, by the day.
Short answer (as of July 2026)
- Don’t bring your Dyson. Dyson hair tools are single-voltage, made for the country of purchase, and Korea runs on 220V/60Hz. Units from the US, Japan or Taiwan (100–127V) won’t work; units from Europe, the UK or Australia (220–240V) still differ in frequency and plug. → Rent a Korea-spec unit instead (Airwrap ₩11,000/day).
- Strollers & car seats are bulky to check, and rental-car agencies can run out of the right seat for your dates or your child’s age. Rent KC-certified gear for ₩10,000–₩26,000/day.
- Wheelchairs & rollators are a lifesaver when traveling with a senior or a suddenly injured leg. Folding wheelchair ₩15,000, rollator from ₩21,000/day.
- Pickup at Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3, 2-night-3-day minimum, deposit refunded. On your last day, drop your luggage at the same spot.
What should you rent in Seoul, and what should you bring?
The rule is simple: if it’s only going to weigh down your bags — or won’t even run here — rent it. Bring the light, universal things like clothes and cosmetics; rent the voltage-sensitive electronics and the bulky baby and mobility gear.

Why you should rent a Dyson instead of bringing yours
Because Dyson hair tools are built for the voltage of the country where they were sold — they are not “dual voltage.” Korea’s electricity is 220V/60Hz (plug types C and F), and a device that doesn’t match that voltage range either won’t switch on or gets damaged.
Dyson states officially that its Airwrap, Airstrait and Supersonic hair tools are “precisely engineered for use with the standard voltage of the country they were purchased in,” and it advises against using a converter, transformer or adaptor. Any damage caused through such a device is not covered by warranty. (The only travel-rated exception is the Corrale straightener.)

So travelers from 100V countries can’t use their unit at all, and even 220V travelers can’t rely on just an adaptor. Rather than lugging a heavy step-up/step-down transformer (hair tools draw 1,300–1,600W, more than most travel converters can handle), it’s lighter and safer to rent a Korea-spec Dyson for a few days.

Strollers and car seats: why renting in Seoul is easier
Traveling with a child, the stroller and the car seat decide half your trip. Both are bulky and easy to damage when checked on a flight. And if you’re renting a car, agencies sometimes provide a seat — but stock and vehicle limits mean the right one may not be free on your dates, or none fits your child’s age. Hearing “no car seat available” on arrival is exactly what you want to avoid.

Wheelchairs and rollators — for traveling with a senior, or a hurt leg
Mobility aids are the kind of thing you go looking for only once you suddenly need them. When you twist a knee or hurt a leg mid-trip, or when a full day on foot is too much for a parent traveling with you, a wheelchair or rollator can save the trip.
A rollator in particular helps people who can walk but not for long. It gives something to lean on and, when the legs give out, a seat to rest on right where you are. At long-walk places like palaces, markets and museums, just not having to hunt for somewhere to sit changes the whole pace of the day.

How it works — pickup, terms, deposit
The process is simple. Send an Instagram DM (@kplanz.official) or an email with your dates and the items you want, and KPLANZ checks stock and replies with pricing and pickup details. Once confirmed, you collect the cleaned and charged items at Hongik University Station Exit 3 and return them to the same spot when you’re done.
- Pickup point: directly connected to Hongik University Station Exit 3 (an AREX / Line 2 / Gyeongui-Jungang interchange hub).
- Minimum: 2 nights 3 days. It’s counted by calendar dates, not 24-hour blocks, so for the same price an earlier pickup gives you more usage time. (e.g. Friday 9 PM pickup → Sunday return = 2N3D.)
- Deposit: varies by item and is fully refunded on return. In-store pickup takes card or cash; delivery and airport pickup take a cash deposit only (KRW or major foreign currency).
- Delivery / airport pickup: available depending on location and schedule — ask in advance.
- Booking tip: stock changes often, so book ahead. Walk-ins are welcome but stock isn’t guaranteed.
Visiting Hongdae? Store your luggage at the same spot on your last day
