It is surprisingly hard to find a straight answer to how much Korean ramen actually costs. Everyone says it is “cheap,” but almost nobody puts a per-packet number on it. The problem is that ramen in Korea is almost always sold in multi-packs. 4,150 won for a pack of 5. 7,470 won for a pack of 10. 29,820 won for a pack of 40. These raw prices tell you nothing about how brands compare, or whether the tag you spot at a supermarket aisle is a deal or a rip-off.

So I did this: on July 29, 2026, I transcribed every price visible on Coupang’s ramen category page, divided each by the number of packets, and converted everything to per-packet cost. I removed multi-brand variety packs and duplicate listings, leaving 85 distinct products sorted by unit price. The goal is not a ranking contest — it is a baseline you can use to check prices at Lotte Mart, E-Mart, convenience stores, or duty-free shops.

The Short Answer

  • Per-packet prices cluster in the 600–1,100 won range. The cheapest soup ramen is Samyang Ramen at 604 won; the nation's staple Shin Ramyun runs 830 won (from a 5-pack at 4,150 won).
  • Buying in bulk knocks 10–20% off the per-packet price. Shin Ramyun: 830 won (5-pack) → 745 won (60-pack). Samyang Ramen: 604 won (5-pack) → 544 won (40-pack).
  • The pricey end is all new products and premium lines: Shin Ramyun Black at 1,420 won, Dungji Mul Naengmyun at 1,660 won, The Mishik Jangin Ramen at 1,818 won. On the flip side, Sari Myun (noodles without seasoning) drops to 338 won.
  • These are online prices — generally the floor. Convenience stores charge nearly double for a single packet.

How to Read This Table

Look at three numbers together. ① The per-packet price — this is what you use to compare brands. ② The pack size and actual price at checkout — this is what you will pay. ③ The best bulk price — how low it goes if you buy a box.

Online retailers in Korea rarely sell ramen by the single packet. So “Shin Ramyun 830 won” does not mean you can buy one packet for 830 won. It means you pay 4,150 won and get 5 packets, making each packet worth 830 won. Grab a single packet at a convenience store and the price will be a completely different story.

How This Compares to Other Stores

  • Large supermarkets often slap the same multi-pack price on the shelf. Divide the shelf tag by 5 and compare it to the table below.
  • Convenience stores sell single packets at full retail. Expect 1.5 to 2 times the online per-packet price. Anything above that is a tourist zone markup.
  • Watch out for coupon prices. The table below shows the price after Coupang coupons. When the coupon expires, the price bounces back (e.g., Neoguri 10-pack at 8,840 won → 7,950 won after coupon).
  • Check the gram weight. A 97 g packet (dry noodle, gunmyun) and a 145 g packet (stir-fried noodle) are completely different products. Weight is listed in the table.

Everyday Soup Noodles — What Koreans Actually Pay

This is the real baseline. The steady-selling soup noodles that fill Korean shopping carts nearly all fall within 600–900 won per packet. Anything above that is a new release or a premium line.

What this tells you: You can see exactly where the price battle is fought in Korea's ramen market. Jin Ramen, Ansungtangmyun, and Samyang Ramen duke it out in the 700-won range, while Shin Ramyun sits a tier higher at 830 won, holding onto its brand premium. The difference is only about 100 won per packet — but for households that buy by the box, that gap adds up fast.

Shin Ramyun Family & Premium Lines — How Much More?

1.3 to 2.2 times the base price. The original Shin Ramyun costs 830 won, but its derivative lines climb from 1,016 won (dry noodle) to 1,420 won (Black). The premium line strategy that Korean ramen companies have been pushing in recent years is written plainly on the price tags.

This section matters to travelers for a different reason. Variants like Shin Ramyun Toomba, Rosé, and The Red are common in Korea but hard to find overseas — and when you do spot them at a Korean grocery abroad, the price tag is usually painful. If you are going to dedicate suitcase space to ramen, these limited-edition spin-offs make more sense than the original. Why Buldak Isn't as Cheap as You'd Think

Buldak Bokkeummyun is known globally as Korea's representative spicy noodle, but on the domestic price ladder it sits in the upper-middle range. Stir-fried noodles have a heavier noodle block (140 g) and liquid sauce, which changes the cost structure. Plus, Buldak is already distributed worldwide — if you are looking for ramen you can only buy in Korea, this one drops down the priority list.

Why Are Sari Myun (Noodles Only) So Cheap?

Because there is no seasoning packet. Sari Myun — plain noodles with no soup base — starts at 338 won per packet. Koreans use these to bulk up budae jjigae (army stew) or hot pot, or to add extra noodles when one packet of ramen is not enough. The price gap also reveals just how much of a ramen packet’s cost goes into the seasoning.

How Much Do You Save Buying in Bulk?

Roughly 10–20%. Here is the per-packet drop from the smallest to the largest pack for representative products across the table.

📦 Per-Packet Price Drop by Bundle Size (5 Representative Products)

ProductSmallest PackLargest PackDrop
Ottogi Snack Myun5-pack 694 won40-pack 536 won−23%
Ottogi Kimchi Ramen5-pack 628 won40-pack 537 won−14%

Nongshim Chapagetti5-pack 1,060 won40-pack 885 won−17%
Nongshim Shin Ramyun5-pack 830 won60-pack 745 won−10%

The standout here is that Shin Ramyun has the smallest drop. Even buying 60 packets only shaves off 10%. That is the power of the No. 1 brand — it sells without needing deep bulk discounts. Meanwhile, budget lines like Snack Myun and Jin Ramen compete aggressively on box-size markdowns.

Practical Advice for Travelers

  • Skip the bulk boxes. A 40-pack of Shin Ramyun weighs about 5 kg — that is your entire checked luggage allowance filled with noodles.
  • A 4- or 5-pack is your suitcase unit. A 5-pack weighs roughly 600 g and lies flat in your bag.
  • Check customs regulations for seasoned noodles. Soup packets containing beef or chicken powder can cause issues in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and other countries. Sari Gomtang Myun and Beef Ramen are the usual suspects.
  • Online delivery usually requires a Korean address. Coupang Rocket Delivery is tricky without an ARC (Alien Registration Card) — see our guide on Where Koreans Shop Online for details.

Where Should Travelers Actually Buy Ramen?

One visit to a large supermarket the day before your flight is the most efficient move. Online prices are a reference point, but the channels you can actually use as a traveler are supermarkets and convenience stores. The large supermarket right next to Seoul Station connects directly to AREX (the airport railroad), stays open until midnight, and makes an excellent final stop — our Seoul Station Lotte Mart Guide covers the store layout and tax refund process. If you just want to try one or two packets for a quick snack, check our Korea Convenience Store Brand Guide.

Data & Methodology

  • Collection Date: July 29, 2026 (Wednesday)
  • Source: Prices displayed on Coupang's ramen category listing page (after coupon and instant discount application, excluding loyalty points)
  • Calculation Method: Displayed price ÷ number of packets = per-packet cost, rounded to the nearest won. Per-100 g pricing is not used (weights vary across products, making brand-to-brand comparison unreliable).
  • Exclusions: Multi-brand variety packs, cup noodles, duplicate listings for identical products (lowest price selected), imported ramen not from Korean brands.
  • Note: Coupang prices change by the hour. This table is a snapshot of one point in time — use it as a reference baseline for channel comparison, not as a fixed price list.
