The short answer
- Korea has six weekly music shows, but as of October 29, 2026 only five are on air. JTBC reported that M Countdown aired its last 2026 episode on October 22 and is expected back in January 2027.
- Music Bank's winner is scored 60% digital music, 20% broadcast plays, 10% fan vote, 5% album sales and 5% social media, per KBS's own notice.
- Inkigayo audience spots are applied for in the SBS play app, for ages 15 and over, one person per ticket (SBS).
- Fan clubs get most of the seats. In one fan club's June 2026 notices, a pre-recording admitted 200 to 300 fans per club, a live broadcast just 10.
Seeing a K-pop music show taped in Seoul is high on a lot of wish lists. Then you start searching and run into a mess of “fan club only,” “the tour is expensive” and “no broadcast this week.” This guide sorts out which shows are actually on air as of October 29, 2026, how the weekly winner is decided, and the routes a foreign visitor can realistically use, sticking to official notices and the numbers behind them.
What K-pop music shows can you attend right now?
Five. There are six weekly shows, one a day from Tuesday to Sunday, but Thursday’s M Countdown is off until the new year. In an exclusive report on October 21, JTBC Entertainment News said M Countdown would make its October 22 broadcast the last of 2026, take a break while CJ ENM prepares for MAMA, and is expected to return in January 2027. No return date has been announced.
📺 K-pop music show schedule by day (as of October 29, 2026)
| Day | Show | Channel | Live start | Venue | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tue | The Show | SBS Life | 18:00 | SBS Prism Tower (Sangam) | On air, relaunched June 2, 2026 |
| Wed | Show Champion | MBC M, MBC every1 | Check the episode notice | Check the episode notice | On air |
| Thu | M Countdown | Mnet | 18:00 | CJ ENM Center (Sangam) | Off after Oct 22, expected back January 2027 (JTBC) |
| Fri | Music Bank | KBS2 | Around 5 PM | KBS New Wing Open Hall (Yeouido) | On air |
| Sat | Show! Music Core | MBC | Varies (e.g. 15:15 on Aug 1) | MBC Sangam (per August 2026 notice) | On air |
| Sun | Inkigayo | SBS | 15:20 | SBS Deungchon-dong Open Hall (Gangseo) | On air |
Inkigayo’s start time comes straight from SBS’s programme page: every Sunday at 3:20 PM. Sources disagree by 10 to 15 minutes on Music Bank, hence “around.” Music Core’s timing changes by episode: KARD’s official fan club notice for the August 1 broadcast put the taping at MBC in Sangam and the live show at 15:15. Sources disagree on both the start time and the venue for Show Champion, so those cells are left open. Once you have a confirmed spot, the fan club or broadcaster notice tells you where and when to gather. Go by that.
The Show is a comeback story of its own. According to Sports Kyunghyang, it ended after its November 11, 2025 broadcast and returned seven months later, on June 2, 2026, on SBS Life with a simultaneous TikTok stream. It has still skipped four weeks in September and October alone (9/8, 9/22, 9/29, 10/13). Cancelled weeks happen everywhere: Inkigayo was off on 9/27 and 10/18, Music Core on 9/26 and 10/3, Show Champion on 9/23 and 9/30.
Practical tip
- November and December are award-show season, and music shows skip weeks more often. Once your dates are fixed, check that week's schedule again. Award-show dates are in our 2026 K-pop award shows guide.

How does Music Bank decide the winner?
It adds digital music (60%), broadcast plays (20%), a K-pop fan vote (10%), album sales (5%) and social media (5%). Those weights come from KBS’s own Music Bank board, in the ranking notice for weeks 3 and 4 of October 2026 (counting period October 5 to 18). The social media score is YouTube data supplied by Circle Chart.
The line to watch is the 20% for broadcast plays. It counts how often a song went out on KBS, so it can move independently of how the song is actually doing. Dailian reported that on the December 2, 2022 broadcast, a team won with zero digital points and 6,324 broadcast points, which caused an uproar.
The other shows work in a similar way: points for the three nominees are added up, and only the nominees get a live vote. But Music Bank is the only show whose weights we could confirm from the broadcaster itself.
🏆 How each show's winning formula checks out (October 2026)
| Show | Score breakdown | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Music Bank | Digital 60 · broadcast 20 · fan vote 10 · album 5 · social 5 | KBS official notice (Oct 2026) |
| Inkigayo | Needs official confirmation | SBS notice not seen |
| M Countdown | Needs official confirmation | Secondary sources disagree |
| Show! Music Core | Needs official confirmation | Secondary sources disagree |
| Show Champion | Needs official confirmation | Broadcaster source not seen |
| The Show | Needs official confirmation | Post-2026 weights not published |
Secondary sources do show how much the mix varies. Creatrip (2024) and Wikipedia both put Show Champion’s digital share at just 35%, with broadcast and app voting at 20% each. Sports Kyunghyang reported that the relaunched The Show now counts overseas streaming data and takes overseas votes only through the BIGC app and website.
Which song has the most music show wins in 2026?
BTS’s “SWIM,” with 14. We added up each show’s published 2026 weekly winners (the tables Wikipedia compiles from broadcaster boards and news reports) across all six shows from January 1 to October 25. “SWIM” won twice on Music Bank and three times each on Inkigayo, M Countdown, Music Core and Show Champion.
Why exactly three on most shows? Most of them retire a song from the nominees after three wins, the so-called triple crown. Music Bank has no such cap, which is how PSY’s “Gangnam Style” won it 17 times, BTS’s “Dynamite” 16 times and Girls’ Generation’s “Gee” 11 times. “Gangnam Style” also holds Music Bank’s longest run at No. 1, ten straight weeks in 2012.
Who has won the most music shows ever?
On Music Bank, BTS, with 51 wins. That is the October 2026 count Wikipedia keeps from KBS’s K-Chart results.
The leader changes from show to show. In the same Wikipedia counts BTS also tops Music Core (43) and Show Champion (25), but IU leads Inkigayo (40), TWICE leads M Countdown (25) and GFRIEND leads The Show (16). For who is strongest right now, the album numbers in the K-pop fandom economy fill in the picture.
Can foreigners attend K-pop music shows?
Yes. There are three routes, and the free official ones are a completely different thing from the paid travel packages.
1. Free audience applications through the broadcaster (official)
- Inkigayo: According to SBS, you apply in the SBS play app under My → Audience and applications → the audience application banner. Winners hear only by app push, not text message. The ticket is a mobile ticket in the app, and staff check your ID before tapping “enter.” Under-15s cannot get in even with a parent, and one ticket admits one person. The notice lists no fee. SBS does not say whether foreigners can create an account and complete identity verification.
- Music Bank: We could not confirm how KBS runs general audience applications in 2026. What we can confirm is the pattern in 2026 Weverse notices: before each episode, the performing artists’ official fan platforms (Weverse and others) post a notice and take pre-recording sign-ups there. When the artist you want comes back, start with their notices.
- M Countdown, Music Core, Show Champion: We found no confirmed official sign-up for the general public.
2. Fan club sign-ups (free, and most of the seats)
Most of the audience is allotted to the fan clubs of the performing artists. Sign-up notices go up on the agency’s official fan cafe, Weverse or similar one to three days before the broadcast, often first-come, first-served in a short window. The rules below appear across 2026 official fan club notices, but they vary by show and episode, so read the actual notice.
- Priority: full members with proof of album purchase, proof of digital purchase and SNS follows go first. Proof often has to be a printout.
- ID: foreigners need an original passport or alien registration card. Copies, photos and screenshots are refused. Your name must match the ID's English spelling, and overseas phone numbers go in with the country code.
- Age: 15 and over, no exceptions even with a parent.
- Not allowed: cameras and recording, food, personal LEDs and slogans (official light sticks only). No phone use from entry to exit. Get caught filming and you are removed, and the whole fan section can be penalized.
- No transfers: both the person who passes on a spot and the one who takes it can be barred for that album's promotion period.
Since album proof matters, where you buy the album is part of the plan. Stores are in our Seoul K-pop album and merch shopping guide.
3. Foreigner-only travel packages (paid)
If you want a fixed date without a fan club, a travel agency package is the option. The prices below are what Trazy’s product pages showed on October 29, 2026. They are set by a private agency, not the broadcasters, and include extras such as a half-day Seoul tour.
🎟️ Trazy foreigner-only music show packages (product pages checked October 29, 2026)
| Package | Price | Key conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Inkigayo + Seoul tour | ₩260,000 | Foreigners only, 15+, up to 4 per booking, original passport with matching name, no transfers or refunds (full refund if the broadcast is cancelled) |
| The Show + Seoul tour | ₩160,000 or ₩200,000 (standing or seated option) | 11+, standing only for people 165 cm or shorter, line up Tuesday 16:50, live 18:00–19:30 |
Trazy says the Inkigayo package does not guarantee the lineup or a live stage (you may see a pre-recorded one), seats are assigned at random within a set zone, and the trip back is not included. For The Show, check on the product page which price goes with which option before paying.
Don't buy "tickets" from individuals
Fan club and broadcaster spots are checked against your own ID and cannot be transferred. "Music show tickets" sold for money on social media or forums are very likely to get you turned away at the door or simply scammed. The legitimate way to pay is a travel agency package like the ones above.
What is a pre-recording, and how early do you line up?
Pre-recordings start at dawn and take hundreds of fans; a live broadcast gives each fan club about ten seats. Most music show stages are filmed on the morning of the broadcast as a 사전녹화 (sajeon nokhwa, pre-recording). In the EPEX official fan cafe’s June 2026 notices, one fan club got 300 places for a Music Core pre-recording, 280 for Inkigayo and 200 for Show Champion, against 10 (plus 5 reserves) for each live broadcast.
The live list is usually picked on site, first-come, from the people who signed up for the pre-recording. A pre-recording films one stage several times, so expect an hour or two or more, and once it starts you cannot leave or change seats. If a song is recorded before release and anything leaks, you are out immediately.
Practical tip
- Call times are early. In the same fan club's June 2026 notices, the Show Champion pre-recording check-in was 4:45 AM, Inkigayo's pre-recording 10:30 AM and the Music Bank live check-in 3:50 PM. KARD's official fan club notice for the August 1 Music Core had check-in at 08:00 and the pre-recording at 09:20 (planned), and said the broadcaster decides on the day who gets into the live show.
- A dawn call can beat the first subway, so where you sleep matters. For Sangam and Yeouido, see Seoul hotels near concert venues.
- Waits are long. Bring a power bank, eat and use the restroom before you go in, and don't lose your number tag or wristband: they are not reissued.
What is a “commute” sighting, and what’s the etiquette?
It means watching artists walk into the broadcaster. You don’t need a ticket, but there are rules. The best known is Music Bank’s Friday-morning 출근길 (chulgeun-gil, “commute”) outside KBS’s New Wing in Yeouido. A 2018 Soompi guide suggested arriving before 7 AM KST to catch artists heading in for rehearsal. We could not confirm the 2026 on-site rules, such as where the photo wall is or what filming is allowed.
The etiquette that shows up across fan club rules: stay behind the barrier line, don’t shout at or try to chat with the artists, pass letters only through fan club staff, and don’t bring food gifts. If you need breakfast in Yeouido after an early start, see Yeouido after dark.
What you can do in Seoul
Even without a seat, you can stand outside for the commute, visit fan spots or watch live. Only places confirmed by official notices or product pages are listed.
KBS New Wing Open Hall (Music Bank, Friday): 13 Yeouigongwon-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu. Famous for the Friday-morning commute.
SBS Deungchon-dong Open Hall (Inkigayo, Sunday): 442 Yangcheon-ro, Gangseo-gu. Trazy puts it about a 10-minute walk from Exit 10 of Gayang Station on Line 9.
SBS Prism Tower (The Show, Tuesday): 82 Sangamsan-ro, Mapo-gu, at Digital Media City Station. The CJ ENM Center (M Countdown) and MBC are in the same Sangam broadcasting district.
- Watch live from anywhere: M Countdown streams on Mnet Plus, Music Core on MBC’s “MBC World” YouTube channel, Show Champion on YouTube’s “ALL THE K-POP,” and The Show on YouTube’s “THE K-POP” and TikTok Live.
- Bookable instead of a lottery: dance classes, agency pilgrimages and other date-certain experiences are in Seoul K-pop experiences, and cafes and restaurants idols have visited are in K-pop fan spots in Seoul.
