Skating beside Seoul City Hall is one of the city’s inexpensive winter outings. This year’s official calendar already gives a planned season and a ₩1,000 session price. The booking and daily timetable are a different matter: use last winter’s arrangements below as a reference until the detailed 2026–27 notice appears.

The short answer

  • Seoul Plaza is planned for December 18, 2026–February 9, 2027. The city festival calendar labels the dates as planned.
  • The same official listing gives ₩1,000 for one hour, including skates and helmet. This year's daily hours and booking launch remain unconfirmed as of October 16.
  • The 2025–26 operating and sledding information below is historical. For an earlier trip, check indoor rink sessions rather than assuming outdoor ice is open.

When does Seoul Plaza's 2026–27 skating season begin?

The city lists December 18, 2026–February 9, 2027 as planned. Its February 11, 2026 closing-season release had already said the rink would return on December 18. This is an early plan, so the final operating schedule can still change. Confirm the final notice before making a non-refundable booking around opening day.

What still needs a new notice?

Checked October 16: the 2026–27 daily hours, first-day session, booking opening, allocation, cancellation rules and Discover Seoul Pass benefit could not be confirmed. The seasonal website may still show 2025–26. Check both the year and the date; a planned opening does not guarantee every session will run in poor weather.

How did booking and sessions work last season?

In 2025–26, you bought a one-hour slot, followed by an ice-resurfacing break. The details below belong to that season, even where the price matches the current festival listing.

Before reserving a session

  • Check the season. Use the new official booking link and rules once published, not an old reservation screenshot.
  • Bring gloves and warm layers. Ask about child age and height rules, helmet fit and skating aids before paying.
  • Keep a weather backup. Check operating notices and Seoul air quality on the day. Last year's pass benefit is not automatically renewed.

Where else can you skate outdoors?

Hotel rinks and smaller seasonal children’s rinks are other places to monitor. The following names are leads for planning, not confirmed 2026–27 openings. We have omitted old media-only hotel prices that could be mistaken for this winter’s tariff.

Can you go sledding beside the Han River?

Last season there were sledding parks at Ttukseom, Jamwon and Yeouido. Their 2026–27 program has not been confirmed here. Use the 2025–26 city notice below only as a reference.

The December 30, 2025 city notice specifies 10:00–17:00 for all three, resolving an older winter webpage’s 09:00 entry for Yeouido. Slopes paused 13:00–14:00; Jamwon extended December 31–January 4 and January weekends to 20:00. Opening had been delayed by warm weather, a useful reminder that snow-making depends on conditions.

Make the rink part of a short outing

Have a warm stop ready after skating. Indoor winter activities and winter street snacks give you options nearby; bring dry socks if children are likely to get wet.
