The short answer
- Studios shoot 250 or more frames but hand over only 5–20 retouched photos. That gap is the first thing that separates one package from another.
- Across products that publish both price and retouched count, the cheapest tier works out to roughly ₩1,800 per retouched photo.
- Some packages require a costume assistant fee of ₩150,000–200,000 in cash on site, on top of the reservation price.
Comparing wedding snaps and family keepsake shoots by price alone gets you nowhere. For the same money, one studio hands over 5 retouched photos and another 20 — and some give you no originals at all. On top of that, there are mandatory items you can only pay on site.
So I gathered only the numbers actually written on the product pages — shot count, retouched count, whether originals are included, hair-and-makeup inclusion, and session length — and put them in one table. Passport and profile shoots are covered separately in the Seoul profile photo studios guide, so I’m leaving those out and focusing on wedding and family keepsake shoots.
What Actually Differs From Package to Package?
The biggest divides are the retouched count and whether originals are included. Session length runs from 3 hours to 6 hours — a two-fold spread.
🏆 Seoul wedding & family photo packages compared (checked on product pages, August 2026)
| Package | Shots taken | Retouched photos | Original files | Hair & makeup | Session length |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nine Studio Korean-style wedding | Not stated | 5 × 5R digital files | Not included (₩220,000 if wanted) | Touch-ups only; no bridal styling | About 3 hours |
| Nine Studio family keepsake wedding | 250+ shots | 10 × 5x7 digital files | Not stated | Simple hair & makeup included | 4–6 hours |
| S.A. Wedding wedding shoot | Not stated | 10 photos | 100 same-day originals sent as files | Hair styling + makeup included | 4 hr 30 min–5 hr total |
| S.A. Wedding casual location | Not stated | 20 photos | 250 same-day originals sent as files | Hair styling + makeup included | 4 hr 30 min–5 hr total |
| Z-and family portrait | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Paid option | Not stated |
| Four Grand Palaces hanbok snap | Not stated | Min. 100 photos within 48 hours | Not stated | Not stated | 1-hour shoot |
| Gyeongbokgung hanbok snap + history tour | Not stated | 50+ photos per person | Not stated | Not stated | 3–4 hours |
What jumps out of the table is Nine Studio’s family keepsake wedding: they shoot 250+ frames but deliver only 10 retouched photos. In other words, the shot count and the final output are entirely different numbers.
Why you should separate shots taken from retouched photos
Shot count is how many times the shutter fires; retouched photos are the finished files you actually receive, with color and shape polished. Originals sit in between. Few products spell out all three numbers, so if you read a description that only brags about the shot count as if it were the deliverable count, the photos you end up with can be just 4–10% of what you expected.
How Much Does a Retouched Photo Cost?
Across packages that publish both the price and the retouched count, the cheapest tier works out to about ₩1,800 per photo. The fact that so few products even allow this calculation is itself a finding.
📊 Cost per retouched photo (assuming US$1 = ₩1,400, based on August 2026 listed prices)
| Package | Listed price | Retouched photos | Cost per photo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gyeongbokgung hanbok snap + history tour | US$64.25 (≈ ₩89,950) | 50+ photos | ≈ ₩1,800 |
| Above + hanbok rental ≈ ₩35,000 | ≈ ₩124,950 | 50+ photos | ≈ ₩2,500 |
| Z-and family portrait | Feed price US$238.10 (≈ ₩333,340) | Not stated | Not calculable |
That “not calculable” cell matters. A price in the ₩330,000 range with no stated retouched count means you can’t tell what you’re actually paying for at booking time. For products like this, confirm the details by message before you pay.

Nine Studio Korean-style wedding — no originals, 5 retouched photos
The takeaway is simple. A package that hands over the original files and one that only gives retouched photos don't belong in the same category. If you plan to pick your own shots and print or edit them later, whether originals are included matters more than the price.
Go with a wedding shoot that includes the original files
The wedding option sends 10 retouched photos plus 100 same-day originals, and the casual location option sends 20 retouched plus 250 originals as files. Hair styling and makeup are included in the price, and the shoot itself runs 1 hour 30 minutes.
Shoots run on weekdays only — no weekends or public holidays. If only your weekend is free, this package isn't an option. Women's shoes are stocked in 230–245 mm only, and men must bring their own dress shoes. As of August 2026.
What Do You Pay On Site Beyond the Reservation Price?
The costume assistant fee is the biggest item. It’s separate from the package price, must be paid in cash on site, and isn’t optional.
📊 On-site payments (as stated on product pages)
| Item | Nine Studio Korean-style wedding | Nine Studio family keepsake wedding |
|---|---|---|
| Costume assistant fee | ₩150,000 (cash on site, required) | ₩200,000 (cash on site, required) |
| All original files | ₩220,000 (if wanted) | Not stated |
| Men’s shoe rental | ₩50,000 | ₩50,000 |
| Album shipping | Not stated | ≈ ₩105,000; production ≈ 2 months |
| Outdoor shoot add-on | ₩300,000 for 1 / ₩500,000 for 2 | Inquire separately |
So at Nine Studio’s Korean-style wedding, getting the originals means adding the ₩150,000 assistant fee and ₩220,000 for the files — ₩370,000 on top of the reservation price. If you plan to stop at 5 retouched photos, you only need to budget the ₩150,000 assistant fee. The same studio’s Korean-style wedding shoot and premium wedding snap have different option structures, so check the assistant fee and original-file policy for each one.
A family keepsake shoot that costs the same for up to 3 people
Two or three people pay the same price, and each person gets one outfit. They shoot 250+ frames but deliver only 10 retouched photos, and a ₩200,000 assistant fee is charged separately on site.
If an album is your goal, factor in roughly 2 months and a ₩105,000 shipping fee — so skip the album if all you need are the files. Free cancellation is only available up to 61 days in advance. As of August 2026.
Why Are Palace Snaps So Much Cheaper?
Because the outfit and the studio are taken out of the price. Instead, you rent your hanbok yourself, and that takes extra time.
🏆 Studio shoot vs. palace outdoor snap
| Aspect | Studio wedding & family shoot | Palace hanbok snap |
|---|---|---|
| Outfit | Dress & tuxedo provided; assistant fee extra | You rent your own hanbok from a rental shop |
| Prep time | 4–6 hours total with hair & makeup | Hanbok rental alone adds 1–1 hr 30 min |
| Shoot time | Around 1 hour 30 minutes | Up to 1 hour after meeting the photographer |
| Delivery | 2 weeks–1 month; albums 2+ months | Google Drive within 48 hours |
| Weather | No impact | Proceeds unless there’s a storm |
The biggest difference from a studio shoot is that palace snap results arrive within two days. The trade-off: if the shoot runs overtime, you’ll be charged extra on site, and if the hanbok rental line is long, your shooting time shrinks by the same amount. If you want to switch palaces, there are separate options like the Four Grand Palaces hanbok snap — where you choose among Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung, and Changgyeonggung — or the Gyeongbokgung outdoor snap, which lets you add hanbok rental as an option.
Drop down to a palace snap that delivers 50+ retouched photos
You get 50+ retouched photos per person on a 3–4 hour itinerary, and the August 2026 listed price is US$64.25 (≈ ₩89,950). At about ₩1,800 per retouched photo, it's the cheapest of any product calculated in this article.
Hanbok rental of about ₩35,000 is extra, infants can't join, and strollers and wheelchairs aren't allowed in. If you're more than 15 minutes late, you can't join the group. Gyeongbokgung is closed on Tuesdays, so the schedule switches to Changdeokgung. As of August 2026.
When Shouldn’t You Book — and What Are the Cheaper Alternatives?
Skip the booking if any of these apply
- You only plan to print two or three photos to hang — a 5-retouched-photo package is plenty, and there's no reason to pay extra for one that touts 250 shots.
- You only have one day — a studio shoot takes 4–6 hours including prep, so it's hard to fit anything else in that day.
- You need the results during your trip — studio files arrive 2 weeks to a month later. A palace snap turns them around in 48 hours.
- Only your weekend is free — some packages shoot on weekdays only, so a booking isn't even possible.
Start with the cheaper end and the choice gets easier. The hanbok rental & photo shoot experience, which bundles hanbok rental with a simple shoot, had a feed price of US$10.59 (≈ ₩14,800) in August 2026 — a completely different budget bracket from a studio wedding shoot. The results are different in character too, so if all you want is a few keepsake photos, this is often where the search ends.
A family portrait that fits a crowd in one session
It can shoot up to 30 people at once and delivers the photos to your accommodation within 3 days. The catch: the retouched count and session length aren't listed on the product page, so before booking you need to confirm how many photos the ₩330,000-range price actually covers.
If you have four people or fewer, this product's capacity advantage disappears, so a cheaper family shoot is the better call. Suits, dresses, and hair and makeup are paid options. Based on the August 2026 feed price, which varies by date and option.
